Why do I bang on about Twitter….I know your saying that as you opened the email/reading this now on the website.
Well Twitter allows you to post mini messages to the world and more importantly our website www.southwellcc.co.uk
If you have visited the site recently on the homepage we have 2 displays, one with tweets from @southwellcc (that I currently manage) and one with tweets that people have mentioned southwellcc. This allows any one who is watching any match with Southwelll CC to post score updates on the site in real time.
Andy Ashworth in recent weeks has started tweeting @southwellcc the Saturday 2nd team scores while I have been away and Richard Beaumont has been doing this for the 1st team. So if you have seen score updates on the site on the column on the right its thanks to these guys
Twitter is not complicated! Twitter can be used in a simple text message from a game, no need for a top of the range phone (I actually text the @southellcc tweets instead of using my iPhone)
The Aim
My simple aim is to have every one related to Southwell Cricket Club on twitter in one form so we can have 10 over score updates from all Junior and Adult matches.
How to get started
Go to Twitter.com and click "Join for free." Select a username such as southwellcc or samuelgrimley. It's also helpful to upload a picture (personal preference).
Now that you have a Twitter account, tell your friends and Southwellcc your username or send them the link to your Twitter page. Each user has there own page, in the form twitter.com/username. (Example: our Twitter page is twitter.com/southwellc.)
Now the best way to tweet, via mobile
Once you are registered, you can connect your mobile phone. Go to Settings Phone and IM. Connecting your phone is a straightforward process. Now you will be given a phone number, add this to your contacts.
When you want to tweet, just text that number your tweet (text message, both 140 characters). These messages will appear on your twitter wall.
Now the important part getting your tweets on www.southwellcc.co.uk At the start of your message type @southwellcc then leave a space and start your message, its that simple. Example
“@southwellcc Sat 2nds: vs Newark, SCC 134-2 after 22 over’s, lovely weather”
Please can I ask for consistency that you start each tweet with which game you’re referring to, such as: Sat 1sts , Sat 2nds , Sun 1sts, Sun 2nds, U11 , U13 etc etc
Twitter Extras (if you want to do a little more)
If you want to start following other people who tweet (so you can see what they are saying, such as getting all the score updates from Southwell CC without having to see the website) then go to the “find people” option and search for people.
