Junior aims and intro
Our aim is to provide a structured introduction for young people to the game of cricket. We do this mainly by our summer Friday night coaching sessions, and by running Kwik Cricket and hardball teams in the local leagues.
The coaching sessions run on Friday evenings from 6pm to 7.30pm, from May to July. This provides an opportunity for boys and girls of junior school age to learn the basics of cricket in a fun and safe environment, guided by ECB qualified coaches and assistants.
It is also an opportunity for the family to start the weekend together as we have a bar and barbecue open during the evening, where parents can relax whilst watching their children acquire or improve their cricket skills.
The Kwik Cricket teams play in a competition on Sunday mornings in June and July, and we enter hardball teams at U11, U13 and U15 age groups in league games from May to July.
We, as a club, are very supportive of our junior members, and are very proud that many have not only played at County and District level as juniors, but also progressed to represent our club at adult level.
If you wish to get more involved on a Friday night, we are always grateful of offers to help. From manning the bar, cooking and serving the barbecue food, to general help setting up and tidying away, we can always use an extra pair of hands. Please speak to one of the organisers on a Friday night or contact a committee member. We like to operate a rota system for volunteers, so it is not too onerous.
We are committed to running our Junior section under the guidance of the ECB Safe Hands manual, and details of the specific safeguarding policies affecting our junior members can be found below:
