Sun 25-April (H) vs Richland Wanderers
A good start with a win at
top ground; a lovley day good weather, food and company. Southwell batted 1st
and with the help of Peter Johnson (86 no ) we amassed 161 for 7. After a
1st class tea Southwell were under a bit of pressure, Richland were 42 for 0
after 8 overs but a blistering spell from debutante T Sharman ( 4 for 10) the
visitors utterly copitulated to 61 all out.
A good day was had by all, many thanks for all the help
and support. The season rolls on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday
2nd XI v Caythorpe CC (League), 12-May-2002
Caythorpe
batted first, and debutant Garth McCarthy made an instant contribution by taking
a wicket in his first over. Sam Saunders bowled superbly and took the next
wicket, before Mark Bowie made the next
breakthrough with two clean bowleds! Mick Saunders took 2-23, and Andrew
Kirk bowled 10 consecutive overs for 2-24. Caythorpe were dismissed for 124.
Southwell's reply started slowly but steadily. After 10 overs Southwell were
16-2, but then Andy Haynes and Tim Willson added 61 runs to put them in a
winning position. Andy finished with 31 and Tim with 43, leaving Mick Saunders
(18*) and Sam Saunders (3*) to supervise the winning stages of the game.
Sunday 2nd XI v. Nottingham CC,
5-May-2002
Batting first Southwell started slowly.
Tim Clarke (31) was the mainstay of an opening stand of 46, and the Andrew
Willson (52*) and Howard Wibberley (24*) pushed the final total to 168-5.
Nottingham batted very well and, helped by indifferent Southwell fielding,
knocked off the runs with an over to spare.
