2nd XI Fixtures 2004 Well after the SNCL league committee had a re think on the structure of the leagues for 2004 the fixtures for 2004 have been released. League fixture secretary Mim Davies has done an incredible job in getting these sorted so quickly and he does add a note of caution that they may have a couple of errors . Tim
Willson will see the 2nd XI starting early on April 24th with what I believe to
be a first senior trip to Thrumpton . The league this year is 20 strong and we
play each team only once. The away trips include some more new ventures
for the club : Wilsons ( play at the Chataeux in Nottingham ) Wymeswold ( was
that a cheese ?) ; Lady Bay Boots ; Hickling ; Stanton by Dale ; and Keyworth .
There will be a trip to league favourites Kimberley II s and a return to West
Bridgfordians . At
home we will host some old friends from Alliance and SNCL 2nd XI competitions
including Radcliffe II s ; Clifton II s; Attenborough II s ; Plumtree II s
and Wollaton II s . New guests to Top Ground include Nuthall ; Awsworth ; Kirkby
Portland ; Risley ; and I think Old Paviors ( the venue for this game is as yet
unclear ! ) The
season will finish on August 28th when we host Plumtree II s and hopefully
have enough points to find ourselves in Division C in 2005. The
full programme will be posted shortly . The Byrons now have 15 fixtures arranged including 9 at home , starting on April 25th against Richland Wanderers of Chesterfield at Top Ground. We
have to date 3 Touring teams lined up for visits ( Hyderabad Colts : Wiltshire
Relics and the Dehli Blues ) ,with a potential fixture with Guisborough CC of
North Yorkshire and Notts U.16s. We
have entered the local evening Charity competition the Cope Cup , where we will
play at least 4 games. Our opponents in our Group are Gedling& Sherwood ;
Caythorpe and Lowdham. Finally
the season starts with a friendly against Collingham on April 17th at 12.30. By
my calculations that’s 7 weeks away !! Cheers, Grimmers 2002
