Runs flowed and records
fell at for Southwell at Top Ground last weekend, 5th
August. On a superb wicket on
Saturday, Wollaton 2nd XI scored 314-3, with both openers
scoring centuries. In a gripping reply Southwell finished just 2 runs
short, thanks to a magnificent innings of 211 not out from Stuart Grimley.
Sunday saw an opening partnership of 226 by father/son duo of Peter and
Sam Johnson. Peter finished on 122 and Sam (aged 12) on 86 as Southwell
posted a total of 273 against Fiskerton. Fiskerton’s
reply of 106 (James Kirkham 39) meant that over 1000 runs were scored on
the square over the weekend!
